St Matthew's Church, Landscove, welcomes you!

This is a beautiful mid 19th Century church, designed by John Loughborough Pearson, who later became the architect of Truro Cathedral.  It has a pretty Victorian broached spire, rather untypical of the Devon style, and the attractive churchyard is approached through a delightful Grade II listed slate-roof, buttressed lychgate.

Along with the church, the school and Hill House Nursery, Landscove village (including the hamlets of Memory Cross, Barkingdon, Beara, Woolston Green, Gullaford, Blacker Barton and Thornecroft) is a thriving community.

The service pattern varies from week to week, so please click on the Services and Events tab for details.

We are part of the Dart and Avon Mission Community, which also includes:

We warmly welcome you to St Paul de Leon Church.

In 2014 the church celebrated the 700th anniversary of the Edict of Bishop Walter de Stapledon who ordered that the Norman church be pulled down and a new more capacious building be erected. He gave the Vicar and parishioners eighteen months to complete the task under the threat of a heavy fine for failure. We do not know whether they succeeded or not, but they certainly eventually produced a church of considerable size in relation to the population. The ecclesiastical parish originally stretched  from the River Dart to the outlying suburbs of Ashburton, when in the 1850s the Parish of Landscove was carved out of it. The large churchyard is a mass of snowdrops, crocuses and daffodils in the Spring.

The service pattern varies from week to week, so please click on the Services and Events tab for details.
